Georgia Politics Unfiltered details the pledges by House Democrats to return the property tax relief grants to Georgia citizens here.
By withholding these grants to local governments, it’s expected that property owners will see a tax increase of $200-$300. All of this is due to the dramatic decrease in state revenue, which is threatening a $2 billion shortfall this fiscal year.
While the State Dems are insisting that they will restore the grant money, it’s unclear how they can do so. Woefully outnumbered, and not in session, it appears that their options are limited.
