Jeezus, will this topic never end?
Here’s the deal Fetterman and Lutz.
- Flowery Branch needed sewer provided to the three most exclusive neighborhoods in town. These are neighborhoods that you BOTH reside in.
- Flowery Branch cannot provide the service due to the infrastructure requirements.
- Only one entity CAN provide service to these neighborhoods- Hall County, which Fetterman acknowledged.
- This makes sewer rates in these neighborhoods go up. Both of you wanted to negotiate with Hall County regarding the rates required, but you had no leverage. EVERYONE, including yourselves, knew that Hall County was your only option.
- Hall County’s rates are predictably higher, and due to political posturing and an upcoming election, you both are trying to throw the Hall County Commission under the bus.
Look, I understand the political realities involved here. If you wish to make hay over this, let’s bring it on. The majority of South Hall does not want to pay for your sewer system. They will resent the fact that your toney neighborhoods are raising sewer rates across the board. Wanna get some class warfare going on? I’m game. But just recognize that it’d take about 100 letters placed to certain influential people (including some in your neighborhood) to make people think ya’ll are both hillbillies with no business sense.
And I can afford a hundred first-class stamps.
Pound on me as you like. Call me a crazy liberal and tarnish this site. It’ll bring increased hits, which is all I really care about anyway.
But recognize this- I’m not some dewey-eyed newbie, and we can be a factor in the upcoming commission election. Not sure which of you are running, but I can figure it out soon enough.
Despite your personal feelings, I don’t have a dog in this fight. I have no desire to work against either of you if you wish to run for higher office. Make your mark where you can. You wanna take on a bigger office? Go to it, fellas.
BUT- don’t piss off people who are indifferent.

Left,
When it comes to me protecting the citizens of Flowery Branch, I will stand up to you, Hall County, the State of Georgia and any elected official who thinks they are better than me because I am only a City Councilman in the Flowery Branch.
As you may be aware, Flowery Branch as a city and in politics has been quit the joke in Hall County in the lat 10 years or so. I committed to change that when I won my position 2 years ago, and I feel with the new members coming in – we will all stand up to anybody or entity that thinks they will push us around.
The issue with the sewer system is something it appears we agree on, except that you call us the most exclusive neighborhoods, and yes I do live in Sterling on the Lake. Well as you may know, my wife and I both work full time and raise two young children (11 and 4) and we both attend college. We work very hard to raise our family in this city and, as many people in this day and time, worry about losing our jobs too.
Left, I think you may want to watch Flowery Branch over the next couple of years and see if we can live up to your standards. We have a lot of tough issues coming before us and will work hard to protect the Flowery Branch citizen.
Even though I am a Republican, at the local level, we worry about issues that do not represent the national Republican or Democrat political view. We worry about property taxes, water, sewer, roads, and how to build the best quality of life for the citizens. We are in competition with the other municipalities to attract development, business, and people so we can build the best city in Hall County.
So, on the issues, we are more alike than not, however, I do appreciate difference of opinion so long as it is factual and not emotional.
As a Republican, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and not Happy Holidays.
Chris Feterman
PS.
Only Sterling on the Lake is in Flowery Branch. Reunion and Deaton Creek are not. That is what I mean by FACT. And your bullets in the Blog are mostly incorrect.

Another Republican promising monkeys to fly …
And it’s only Christmas one day a year. You’ll have to do better in politics than play the Christmas Card. Unless you only need 300 votes to win election …
BTW, why hasn’t the official Flowery Branch website updated the election results?
Don’t want transparency in politics?
What was the turnout that gave control of the city to one demographic?
370 – 41
330 – 94
315 – 101
So if we get 400 people to vote, you’ve got a mandate?
Or do you just have 300 angry sewer users in Sterling?

The median income for a household in the town was $35,478, and the median income for a family was $38,500. Males had a median income of $29,572 versus $21,382 for females. The per capita income for the town was $16,970. About 9.5% of families and 13.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.1% of those under age 18 and 21.6% of those age 65 or over.

From the 2000 Census. Information soon to be updated to more like 25,000 people.

So I am just wondering what is Fetterman’s position. He doesn’t want Hall County to raise sewer rates for his pseudo township Sterling on the Lake. He admits that Flowery Branch could not provide the function that his neighborhood needs. So how do we pay for this?
Surely you and Lutz ate not suggesting that we redistibute the wealth of Hall County for your precious sub-division. How socialist of you?
By the way if Flowery Branch can not provide the neccessary services to Sterling on the Lake, why was it annexed in?
December 21, 2009 at 4:08 pm
Fetterman has a position and you expect him to articulate it?
Like what does he have a position on except “I know better than you and everyone else?”
Or the Flowery Branch First policy?
Or was that the Sterling on the Lake First policy?
Or just the same ol’ “Me and my Buddies First?”

Kafka, Mad Dog, and bluedogdemocrat, I have no earthly idea what any of you said in the previous replys, but keep it up. It is good to laugh.
December 22, 2009 at 11:44 am
LOL!
It warms my little Liberal heart to know you are not reading for entertainment.
How does talking to yourself work for you?

Fetterman. I expected more from you.
Seriously, that line would have even you gotten you points in middle school.
Answer the question or get off the stage.
December 22, 2009 at 6:57 pm
bluedogdemocrat,
Sterling on the Lake was annexed in before I came on the council and was also in Flowery Branch’s service district based on HB 489. The fact that the majority of the council voted to give away that portion of our sewer district to Hall County is beyond me. One can only assume there was a deal made that did not include me in the discussion prior to being put on our agenda.
If you want to go toe-to-toe with me in any logical debate, I suggest get the facts first. Your emotional response to most of your comments lack facts of any topic you get involved in.
Because I do my research on topics before I speak, I thought I would use a famous quote has that Sgt. Joe Friday said on Dragnet, “Just the facts, ma’am.” Or is that correct?
December 22, 2009 at 10:20 pm
Councilman,
In the Flowery Branch minutes, you admit that FB can’t service Sterling on the Lake. It wasn’t a giveaway- it was the ONLY choice the city had.
December 22, 2009 at 11:04 pm
Again you do not answer the question?
What is your position?
Should we spread the wealth and redistribute the wealth of Hall County for these three subdivisions?
As for facts, I never suggested that you had anything to do with the annexation of Sterling on the Lake. Did you even live in Hall County during that time? I understand that you and Lutz are transplants to our wonderful area ynlike Mr. Banks who is a fine life long resident of our county. Where do you people get off coming here and telling us how to do things?
Since you are quick to insult and slow to answer, how have you become do popular? Maybe it is because the people have become so thirsty for leadership, they have begun to drink the sand.
December 23, 2009 at 10:04 am
Gray,
Man you got me. I did say that.
Here is what I said, “Further he agreed that right now it is OK that Hall County is servicing that area as we don’t have the infrastructure to provide services in that area.”
Key words in previous statement – right now. The fact is at the time we did not have a pipe in the ground to run the sewer from this area to our sewer plant in Flowery Branch. We should have made an agreement with Hall County to continue servicing our service district until either Flowery Branch put a pipe in the ground and allow the sewer to flow through our plant or we set the rates for those on the Hall County sewer to be reasonable.
As a councilman, it is my job to fight for those who live in the city. Period.
Once again you lack all the facts.
December 23, 2009 at 10:19 am
bluedogdemacrat,
I guess us living in the greatest country in the world where we have the right to live in any part of our country without worrying about being discriminated against means nothing to you. I guess while I served in the United States Army and lived in a number of states, cities and counties you would call me a translate in those areas too. I guess because I was born in New York, but my daughter and son were born in Georgia makes them more of a Georgian than me. I guess because I am an American and the constitution gives me the right to run for office in any part of our county as long as I qualify is a problem with you.
Sorry you feel that way.
To answer your question about popularity, it is called honesty and integrity, something some people lack.
December 23, 2009 at 12:12 pm
Fetterman,
Thanks for your service. Now didn’t you get paid for it and aren’t you still drawing benefits from your service, including special financing for your $300k home in Sterling?
Since you think you’re owed something by me for your service, I wanted to give you everything you were promised.
Again, here’s your thanks, your paycheck, and your lifetime benefits.
You want anything else for it, kiss my grits.
I only respect those who served with honor. Not those who want to be honored for serving.

More sand!
Again tell me how you would solve this sewer problem in a fair, equitable, and Democratic way; or are you admitting to being a socialist?
Just want to know.
